MELROSE — The 25th annual Bike to the Sea Day ride is on Sunday, June 11.

The Melrose Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee invites Melrosians to meet at 7:50 a.m.,for an informal bike convoy to the ride’s start at the Madeline English School, 105 Woodville St. in Everett. Participants will leave promptly at 8 a.m. at the corner of Main and East Foster

There’s a 14-mile round-trip family ride and a 20-mile ride to Lynn Beach, followed by lunch at the Dockside Restaurant on Centre Street in Malden. Comfortable pace, very family-friendly. There are police escorts for the portions of the ride that are on the road. Starting the ride in Melrose will add three miles to the ride on each end.

The ride starts at 9 a.m. Registration is available online, which includes lunch, or participants can register the day of the ride starting at 8:30 a.m.

Some of the trail is unpaved, so wider tires are recommended. Helmets are required. Riders eight and up are allowed. Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The event is a lot of fun and supports a great cause to support completion of the community path from Everett through Malden to Nahant Beach.
