LYNNFIELD — The final two games of the season for the Lynnfield 12-year-old Little League All-Stars ended in forfeits.

Both forfeits took place against Tyngsboro. On Aug. 3, Lynnfield had to forfeit due to a lack of players. Tyngsboro had to forfeit for the same reason on Aug. 1.

Both of those games were scheduled to be played in Tyngsboro.

Lynnfield concluded the Bay State League Division A, Session B season with a 4-6 record.

In the last game Lynnfield played, they lost 5-0 to Bedford on July 30.

“We were shorthanded in that game and had to have a lot of call ups,” recalled Lynnfield manager Jeff Mullin. “Chase (Goldberg) pitched well.”

It was Goldberg’s debut on the hill for the team.

“The offense didn’t give him much support,” said Mullin.

The Lynnfield offense had just two hits, as Devin Bolger and Thomas Taylor both had singles.

Taylor made a nice play at first base, while outfielders Ben Simone and Rob Higdon also had good games.

On July 24, Lynnfield fell 10-3 to Allston-Brighton.

Taylor had an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Overall, Lynnfield concluded this summer with a 10-11 record. They went 4-3 in session A and went 2-2 in the Williamsport Tournament.

“We are a small town and we didn’t have any big hitters this season,” said Mullin. “We had to manufacture a lot of our runs.”

Mullin enjoyed the experience as the team started together back on June 20.

“We focused on the kids having fun this summer and they also worked hard,” said Mullin.
